Kevin Byard is coming off a down year with the Tennessee Titans and Philadelphia Eagles as he was traded before the 2023 NFL Trade Deadline. At 30 years old, his best days are probably behind him, but if the Bears can sign him to an affordable 1-2 year contract as a solid starter next to Jaquan Brisker, that’s really all Chicago needs. The Bears secondary is a strength and only needs adequate play at free safety as that’s what it got from Eddie Jackson in 2023. Byard has 28 interceptions in his career and has never had durability concerns.
