Even though it didn’t technically occur near the 2022 NFL Trade Deadline, the San Francisco 49ers pulled off a trade that shocked the entire NFL world this season when acquiring RB Christian McCaffrey. And upon his arrival, many knew the pairing of CMC with 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan would likely be a good fit, but they are already doing some things we could’ve NEVER expected to see.
For Jimmy Garoppolo, the San Francisco 49ers just seem to continue to build an offense that works to what he does best. With adding a swiss army knife like CMC to an already stacked weaponry including Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk, George Kittle, Jauan Jennings, Ray-Ray McCloud, etc, both the run and passing abilities of this offense are set to only improve as we move on in the season. And for Trey Lance when he returns, he has all the pieces needed to succeed.
And then there’s the 49ers defense, which has been nothing short of amazing. Headlined by Nick Bosa, Fred Warner, & Jimmy Ward while still waiting on the return of Jason Verrett, Arik Armstead & Dre Greenlaw, the 49ers could quickly become one of the best two-way teams in the NFL. And come playoff time, this could be a nightmare.
